Welcome! I’m Nikki!
I am so glad to have you here! I would love to share some of my experience and background before you start this course. It might be helpful to know who I am and how I developed this course.
I was trained medically as a nurse and worked in various settings over the years. I have attended births as a student midwife, assistant midwife, doula, and now as a sovereign birth attendant. I have attended births in hospitals, birth centers, and homebirths with and without medical providers. Although I used to work as a medical provider, I no longer serve my community in that capacity.
I have shifted my work in birth into education, prenatal support, and nonmedical birth attendance. After much inner reflection, I have discovered that the most authentic way I can support women is outside the medical system.
I used my knowledge and experience in women’s wellness and birth to create this Birth Prep Guide. I think it is important for women to have access to information to help them make educated decisions regarding their care. My intention is for this guide to be a well-rounded resource for women and their families.
